The Merica Patriot 4R70W retains its factory shift pattern and is a great option for stock vehicles that still want a stronger, longer lasting transmission than a regular OEM replacement. Merica's Patriot transmissions have a normal shift pattern for ease of driving, but are much more durable than a factory OEM replacement. This model has the option for gas or diesel applications.
The Ford 4R70W automatic transmission was introduced in 1993. It is derived from Ford's AODE. In 1993, Ford began switching their name conventions and thus the designation for the AODE was changed. For the 2004 and 2005 model years, the 4R70W/E was used exclusively in 4.2L V-6 and 4.6L V-8 applications.
